[The NC Crystal Coast is a saltwater light tackle and fly fishing paradise]

I'm taking 2004 off from charters to work on some projects, update boats and equipment and remodel our new home. However, feel free to look around and be sure to check back with us for the 2005 season. Until then check with our friends at Fisherman's Inn (fishermansinn.net) for your charter fishing needs. And, for scuba diving and instruction, visit our dedicated dive website, SportDiverHQ.com.

Known as North Carolina's Crystal Coast, the beaches, sounds and backwaters near and around Atlantic Beach, Emerald Isle, Beaufort, Morehead City, Harkers Island and Salter Path are a sportsman's paradise. Huge Redfish feed on shallow saltwater flats, ready to snap-up a carefully placed fly. Speckled trout, Flounder and False Albacore await the opportunity to provide a thrill to fishermen equipped with light tackle or fly fishing gear. [Redfish, North Carolina State Fish are popular catches for saltwater fly fishermen] Along the beaches and beyond Bluefish feed near the surface in a frenzy, King and Spanish Mackerel wait to strip line from a reel. When it comes to saltwater fishing excitement, it just doesn't get much better than this!

For the nature lover or outdoor photographer the barrier islands and estuaries near [Shore birds abound in and around the flats and backcountry areas of Bogue Sound]Atlantic Beach, Beaufort and Morehead City hold boundless adventures. Beautiful wading birds ply the shallow waters, searching for a meal. Wild ponies frolic on narrow sandy islands, their left behind by European explorers centuries ago. Water fowl, river otters and dolphin swim in the waters of the Bogue Sound. Bring your binoculars or your camera and experience nature at its best.

If you don't care to restrict your[NC is known as the Wreck Diving capital of the USAto scuba divers around the world] explorations to the surface of the water, there is a fascinating aquatic environment to discover below. Inside the sound and near the beaches, rock jetties provide a home to many fish and invertabrae. Beyond the beaches hide numerous shipwrecks, ledges and artificial reefs worthy of the certified scuba diver's attention. Novice, intermediate or advanced, our coastal waters hold an adventure for divers of every level of experience.

[Saltwater flyfishing and light tackle fishing is becoming a popular Carolina outdoor activity]
